Federal Work Study

Federal Work Study (FWS) provides part-time jobs for students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the recipient’s course of study.

Federal Work Study FAQs

Will I be paid the same as I would in any other job?
Federal Work Study students are paid by the hour. This program is not paid by commission or fee.  Southeastern Bible College must pay the student directly (unless directed otherwise) and at least monthly. Wages for jobs in the Federal Work Study program will be at the current federal minimum wage. Wages may be higher for some positions depending on the position and the skills required to fulfill the duties required. The amount you earn can’t exceed your total Federal Work Study award. When assigning work hours, your employer or financial aid administrator will consider your award amount, class schedule and your academic progress.

What kind of jobs are there in Federal Work-Study?
If you work on campus, you’ll usually work for Southeastern Bible College. If you work off campus, your employer will usually be a private non-profit organization or a public agency, and the work performed must be in the public interest.

How do I apply for a Federal Work Study position?
» Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to be awarded federal financial aid.
» Your award notification will list whether you are eligible for Federal Work Study funds.
» Eligible Federal Work Study students should complete the Application for Student Employment and return it to the Financial Aid Office at Southeastern Bible College.
