Elementary Education Requirements

B.A. in Bible and Theology; Elementary Education

The Elementary Education Major is designed to train elementary classroom teachers for a variety of educational settings. Academic coursework, as well as practical field experiences, are combined so that students are prepared to teach K-8 subject areas with an understanding of the age level characteristics for each group.

Students graduate with a double major in Bible and Theology and Elementary Education. They will also receive their initial teaching certificate in Elementary Education (K-8) from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). Students who graduate from the Elementary Education Program may pursue initial teacher certification with the State of Alabama by completing successfully a Master’s degree in Elementary Education from an out-of-state college or university that is state approved or NCATE approved. In addition, students pursuing Alabama state certification must also meet all Alabama State Department testing and background requirements.
